Backpacker Gear Awards 09

In this video and article I demonstrate a technique for building a fire structure that will burn continuously and does not require ANY managing. This is a great method to know if you need the heat from a fire while you are sleeping, but do not want to wake up repeatedly during the night to add more wood.

Great Job on …
Great Job on Building this fire, but One important thing you need to remember is to clear the area around the base because if the wind picks up you don’t want to set the rest of the woods on fire.

Yeah… life has a way of keeping all of us from the woods sometimes… I have to force myself to schedule “woods time”, but once I get out there, I never want to come home.

In all my years …
In all my years camping I have never got a fire to last more than about 3-4 hours through the night without having to add more fuel. If I was to scale up the logs on the bottom I guess I could have a fire burning all night. Its something I am going to try. Excellent advice as always Paul.
